Deciding to walk, ride or use public transport—instead of driving the car—can make a big difference to our own health, the health of our community and the health of the environment.
But, for a number of reasons, we don’t always make that decision.
TravelSmart provides tips and resources to make the choice a little easier and helps reduce our reliance on cars.
Choosing more active travel can save us money and improve our physical and mental wellbeing. Cutting back on car travel also benefits the community by reducing traffic and parking problems, as well as delaying the need for more car-related infrastructure as our population grows. Smarter travel choices also result in lower greenhouse gas and other emissions and reduces fuel use.
The NT Government is encouraging TravelSmart choices to achieve goals under Territory 2030 and the NT Climate Change Policy.
