The Road Train Assembly Area (RTAA), Truck Central Darwin is now open.
Located on the corner of Tiger Brennan Drive and Wishart Road, the RTAA comprises 3.2 hectares of concrete hardstand providing 55 heavy transport parking bays and a dual-height loading ramp for the stacking of trailers.
The RTAA improves transport safety and productivity by providing truck operators with a safe, off-road space to park, rest and reassemble configurations for single combination deliveries. Parking bays cater for triple road trains, smaller configurations such as B-doubles and semi-trailers plus prime mover and dolly parking. Further fatigue management amenities, such as a restaurant, drivers lounge and showers are available at the adjoining BP Truck Stop.
The RTAA is jointly funded by the Australian Government under the Heavy Vehicle Safety and Productivity Program, Northern Territory Government and Land Development Corporation. Ongoing support from the NT Road Transport Association has provided essential input and guidance into the planning and design of the facility.
The RTAA Conditions of Use are now available to download.
